Thanks to you, Burn the Boats is a bestseller!
This week, Wall Street Journal named Burn the Boats a bestseller.
To all of you Boat Burners who helped fuel the rise of Burn The Boats to the WSJ Bestseller list, thank you. This week was just another incredible milestone on the journey of the book.
It’s my book, but it’s your story.
To all the people around the world who read it and decided “yes, now is the time - my time” - just keep going! The book is meant to hold up a mirror to what we are all capable of when we refuse to settle for anything less than our God given purpose on this Earth.
This powerful Substack community of the intellectually curious, the global gathering place of lifetime learners and growth seekers. So many of you shared your stories of taking the leap of faith and pursuing your life’s true purpose. It’s been awe-inspiring to see my words leap off the page and serve as a guiding force in your lives.
I honestly wasn't sure how the burn the boats message and mantra would be received here. Perhaps it's too contrarian to gain traction in a cynical world. But I set those concerns aside and took my own advice because the only way to achieve breakout success is to engineer total commitment and scuttle all options for retreat.
I recently sat down with Andy Stumpf on his Cleared Hot podcast. In the clip below, I broke down my “why” for writing this book. (You can watch the full conversation with Andy here.)
From countless conversations with all of you to my own life experiences, I’ve heard all the reasons why we shouldn’t go all in.
“I don’t have enough talent or skill to make it.”
"I just don’t have enough time.”
"What will my friends and family say if I fail?”
"I’m not ready.”
We conjure countless excuses and well-meaning adages about why playing it safe is our best bet. Burn the Boats is meant to be the supportive friend when doubts creep in or the empathetic family member when anxiety wreaks havoc on our confidence. This book was carefully crafted to be a mirror into your soul, even in the most trying times, to give you that final push towards your life’s true purpose.
If you read Burn the Boats, please let me know in the comments or DM me on Instagram or LinkedIn.
Thanks again for making Burn the Boats a Wall Street Journal bestseller! And as always, keep burning those boats.
